OpenStat is a general-purpose statistics package written for students and researchers that cannot afford the more expensive commercial packages. It contains descriptive, univariate, multivariate, measurement, process control, financial, simulated and other statistical procedures. No warranty is given for its accuracy or correctness and the user should verify by hand calculation or other packages that the results of procedures provide adequate results.
OpenStat is written in the C++ language as implemented in the Borland C++Builder package, version 5. The source code is available for downloading so that other programmers may make additions and corrections for their own personal use. There is copy-write protection on the package and it is NOT to be used for any commercial purpose.
The previous Stats4U package differs from the OpenStat package in several ways. The major difference is the manner in which data files are saved. Data files in the Stats4I package are saved as text files that may be created or edited with any text processor such as Windows Notepad. The OpenStat package saves files as binary files that cannot be easily edited or modified with other programs.
